How do you get development cards in Catan Cities and Knights?
Development cards are a resource in Catan that can be paid for during a player’s turn. On their turn a development card can be bought from the supply for one wool (sheep), one grain, and one ore. This makes them relatively cheap to buy, and can be a very cheap way of getting points.

You receive a card that it’s maxed -> the 250 commons become 1250 gold. You give a card that you have maxed -> you pay 2500 gold. So, as it happens with the donations, you’ll have to pay full shop value for the maxed cards that you give, and you’ll receive half of its value if you receive a card that you have maxed.

Can you cut off longest road with a settlement?
You are correct.
You can break an opponent’s road by building a settlement on an open intersection along his road! On page 8, in the example, Emily has the longest road card with 7 segments. She has two houses within those 7 segments. This was also answered directly in the online FAQ as pointed out by @shemmon.
How do you get the longest road in Catan?
